Tech Talk: Building Scientific Multimodal Agents with ADK, Gemini, and GCP
Speaker: Henry Ruiz (Google Developer Expert)
Abstract: Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) and multi-agent systems are reshaping scientific discovery by enabling scalable, autonomous, and collaborative AI-driven problem-solving across disciplines while reducing human bias. In this talk, I present MIRA, a multimodal agentic framework built on Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK) and established protocols such as MCP and A2A to accelerate complex data-science analytical workflows. I will outline key engineering lessons learned during MIRA’s development and highlight the need for next-generation interoperability standards that enable agents to integrate seamlessly with external scientific software ecosystems. Finally, I will demonstrate how to implement advanced collaboration patterns using ADK—including agents functioning as MCP tools, human-in-the-loop orchestration, and A2A-based agent collaboration for persistent, context-aware reasoning.
