Tech Talk: Building Geo-Spatial Research Agents Using Gemini, ADK, and GEE

Abstract: Researching and understanding geo-spatial datasets and data layers (e.g., MODIS, VIIRS) isn’t just about saving as much time as possible; it’s also about avoiding the missed opportunity of finding a dataset or approach that could shift the way you think about the problem. We know this because we (Kris and Eric) are engineers and scientists who have done this many times before!
In this session, we’ll show the design process, prototyping steps, and spatial data exploration AI agents that we built. We’ll show a demo app and share the sample code for how we've used Google's Gemini, Agent Development Kit (ADK), and Google Earth Engine (GEE) data catalog.
Join us for a technical exploration of how AI agents can make researchers' lives more efficient when working with complex geo-spatial data. We hope to inspire the current and future generation of engineers, scientists, and developers who are working with AI by showcasing a practical approach to building AI tools that empower scientific breakthroughs (i.e., the tools that we wish we had when we were in university!).
