Tech Talk: Data science models for Infectious Diseases
Speaker: Alex Glaser (AIG Tech)
Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented global crisis, a seismic event that shook our world in ways we’re still grappling with today. As a member of the UK Health Security Agency's Infectious Disease Modelling team, I had the unique opportunity to dive deep into the data and dynamics of the virus, and help to predict its spread and impact. In this talk, I’ll take you behind the scenes, to give you a whistle-stop tour of the models we used, the logic driving our decisions and the insights we uncovered about the virus. For those eager to dive deeper, I’ll also point you toward the key papers that document this work in greater detail.
