Tech Talk: EMERGING REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS IN CONVERSATIONAL SPEECH TRANSLATION
Speaker: Seth Hammock (GoSignify)
Abstract: In my upcoming talk, I will demonstrate a real-time speech translation application I built as a licensed Spanish-language interpreter for Texas courts and conferences. We will delve into the fascinating evolution of computational challenges in speech translation, and touch on fundamental technologies, such as transformers, auto-regressive models, and RLHF. Additionally, the discussion will address practical hurdles necessitating a well-defined human-in-the-loop protocol in the context of translation. This talk aims to provide an overview of both high-level technological advances and the on-the-ground challenges that influence the effectiveness and business potential of real-time speech translation systems. This discussion is for technical and non-technical attendees.

Tech Talk: Building a Control Center for your data
Speaker: Stephen Frazier (PMG)
Abstract: Exploring the critical components and best practices for creating a robust, efficient, and reliable data control center. This control center will ensure smooth data flow, high quality, and effective management, optimizing the process of preparing data for AI and other business applications.

Tech Talk: Making AI reliable for enterprises
Speaker: Sumanyu Sharma (Hamming AI)
Abstract: If 2023 was the year of AI POCs, 2024 is the year of reliability. I'll walk through what it takes to convert an AI internal POC to something that's production-grade: picking KPIs, setting up an experimentation loop, detecting and eliminating hallucinations.
