Abstract: Data Governance is the art and discipline of anticipating, preventing, and mitigating all the risks, costs, and headaches that come with every new data source, pipeline, and model throughout the lifecycle of a data project. Keeping your data and analytical assets organized to maximize AI/ML developer productivity and satisfaction while minimizing risks and liabilities is a valuable practice that helps maximize the lifetime value of data. This talk will cover the fundamentals of data governance, some of the frameworks commonly used, and share some reasons why individual practitioners should be enthusiastic about governance.
