* 5:40pm~7:30pm: Tech talks
* 7:30pm: Q&A, Open discussion & Mixer

Tech Talk 1: Build an AI image search app using natural language with OpenAI CLIP model + Vector Search
Speaker: Erick Ramirez @DataStax
Abstract: ChatGPT opened the world to the significant advancement in natural language processing. ML models transform data objects such as text, images and videos into vector embeddings so we can retrieve them using natural language with vector search. In the second installment of this Generative AI series, we will build an AI app to find images in a vector database using text queries in plain English in literally just a few lines of code using OpenAI Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) model. We will go through the fundamental concepts of Generative AI, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), vector search and more in this live coding session so no prior knowledge is required even for those new to AI.

Tech Talk 2: Full-Stack GenAI and Enterprise-Grade LLMs
Speaker: Hugo Bowne-Anderson @Outerbounds; Thierry Wending @Atomi
Abstract: This talk explores a framework for how data scientists and machine learning engineers can deliver value with Generative AI: How can you embed LLMs and foundation models into your pre-existing software stack? How can you do so using Open Source Python? What changes about the production machine learning stack and what remains the same?
We’ll delve into an example of how Atomi, an online teaching and learning platform for students, teachers, and schools, leverages GenAI and LLMs to assist in scalable online education. We’ll look at their infrastructure stack, which includes AWS, HuggingFace models, and Metaflow, and see how their tooling provides a wonderful developer experience and the ability to move from prototype to production with relative ease. We’ll also talk about the tradeoffs between OSS language models and closed vendor APIs, how to perform cost-benefit analyses of choices and migrations, along with how to embed all steps of your end-to-end GenAI workflows, from data labeling to model evaluation, into your ML software stack.
